Art Fairs & Shows Bonnie Wilderness
The shopping experience for many has been cut down into pulling things off the shelf and into a basket, only to interact briefly with the cashier or no one by passing through self checkout.
In contrast, market events create a sense of place and community identity. Buyers interact with each other in mutual appreciation of local skill, can discuss gift ideas directly with the traders and feel delight witnessing the artists face glow with pride when complimented on their creations.
While trading at art markets, I find it touching and deeply moving when visitors share their stories and memories, evoked by my artwork. Strong emotional connections are created, in turn these stories are shared as part of the gift.
Personally, I find that the diverse array of local handmade products, skilled craftsmanship and often work inspired by the British countryside, give me a strong source of community pride.
