Hamadryad by Sandy Gardner
Hamadryads are tree nymphs, embodied by the tree that houses them. They are unable to leave the tree and live and prosper as it does. As more and more ancient woodlands are devastated by civilisation, the Hamadryads are dying out.
This Hamadryad stands alone now, where once a magnificent forest surrounded her.
One by one her sisters fell, destroyed by man.
Now she too is dying. She is the last of her kind.
Who will remember her?
The original tree can be found at Old Park near Holker in Cumbria. The cracked sand was inspired by Morecambe Bay sands during hot spells in summer.
(story adapted from The World of Fairies by Gossamer Penwyche)
The artwork has been published in the book "The World of Fairies" by Gossamer Penwyche
This is an maquette limited edition giclee print of 100.
The artwork is printed at high resolution using pigment inks.
The print is numbered, titled and signed by myself.
The artwork is printed on high quality 260gms fine art paper with a satin finish.
The artwork is available in two sizes, measuring approx 30 x 42cm (A3 size) or 59 x 81cm (A1 size) leaving a white border for framing.

My artworks involve the combination of traditional media such as painting, drawing, sculpture and digital photography combined using digital media.
